Complementing councils and governments investment into the iconic loop walkway and key attractions such as Hundertwasser Arts Centre, Hihiaua Cultural Centre, Ball Clock, Camera Obscura, Te Matau a Pohe and a catalyst for future development.

Whangarei’s population alone is now over 90,000. We are no longer a provincial town, we are knocking on the door of cities like Tauranga and Hamilton. But we continue to miss out on opportunities that cities like Tauranga and Hamilton take for granted. We do not have a high quality theatre/convention centre with sufficient capacity nor sufficient quality accommodation (4 Star and above) to accommodate both domestic and, when they can again return to New Zealand, international visitors.
With an increased focus on the domestic market, the need for more 4 Star accommodation and events increases as locals, domestic tourists and the event and meeting industry look for venues closer to home.
The Resource Consent report for the development has been completed and is ready for lodgement.
This means Oruku Landing is ‘shovel ready’ in 12 months.
